Learning Complex responses
Sometimes behaviors are complex and are not originally exhibited by an organism. Since the organisms free operant level is zero there is no behavior to reinforce. The behavior must then be taught through reinforcement. The processes that help an organism learn complex responses are shaping and chaining. Sometimes, a complex response of superstitious behavior can result even though it is not the desired response.
